Guests must validate parking with the front desk upon arrival to receive hotel discount pricing. Additionally, nearby parking garages and metered street parking options are available.

Legislative Welcome Back Reception

If you are attending the Executive Pathway Conference at the Surety please note, that it's not imperative to be there right at 3:30 PM for the reception if you need to check in to your hotel or are driving/ride sharing from the Suerty to the Embassy. 

Transportation Details:

Shuttle Service Details: The first shuttle departs from the Surety Hotel lobby at 3:15 PM Continuous shuttle service will run until 6:00 PM

Prefer to drive yourself?
There's a parking ramp available across the street (402 East Second Street) from the Embassy. The rate is $1/hour or $10/day and takes credit cards.

Helpful steps to take before the reception:

1. Identify your State Representatives and Senators using this "find my legislator" tool. Note that the provided contact info is the official legislative email and phone number, which may be inundated at the start of the session. If you have their personal contact info, this is a great opportunity to use it.
2. Call or email your legislator to invite them to the reception and reference that it is at the Embassy Hotel. There may be other receptions that evening in Des Moines. If you are emailing please include the attached Welcome Back Reception invitation. New legislators may not have access to their email until they are sworn in Monday the 13th.
3. Call or email your neighboring GMs/CEOs or managers to invite them to attend. 

To Bring with you to Tuesday’s Welcome Back Reception:

1. Reference the attached Legislative Photo Directory so you recognize your legislator and are able to identify them in a crowd.
2. Mike St. Clair and Daniel Stalder will give a briefing to all Executive Pathways attendees before the reception starts. We will have copies of talking points during the reception. 
3. Wear your logoed shirt to identify your company.  While legislators and some others will be in business attire during the reception it is ok to wear either business attire or company shirts.
4. Be ready to have fun, mingle with other telecom GMs, and get to know your legislators.
5. Post-Event Press Release - we encourage you to use the attached (below) post-event press release for your company and modify it as needed.
