ICA members are invested in the communities they serve supporting local activities, projects and causes. ICA members employ fellow rural Iowans who live, work and play in the communities they serve and care about. Below are a few examples of how our members are engaging with and investing in their communities.
Jefferson Telecom has partnered with Greene County New Opportunities since 2014 for an annual back to school supply drive. Donations were requested from the community for supplies and monetary donations to help over 200 children per year.
Western Iowa Networks donated to Kellan’s Kingdom, an organization who constructed a Miracle Field in Carroll, IA. The Miracle Field is a hard-surface baseball field for people with disabilities.
Webster-Calhoun Coop. Telephone Association (WCCTA) assisted the local hospital, Stewart Memorial Community Hospital, in the start up costs for its $31 million Putting People First campaign to expand services and complete needed renovations. This award was made in partnership with the Ripple Effect Program.
Kalona Cooperative Technology Company (KCTC) supported a student built housing project to help address the housing needs in their rural community. High school students work under the direction of a local contractors to rehab, tear down or build new homes in Kalona, IA. This award was made in partnership with the Ripple Effect Program.
Citizens Mutual Telephone Cooperative donated Legos to a local middle school after-school program "Lego Masters". Additionally, a CM employee also served as a celebrity judge for the event.
Minburn Communications helped their local economic development group, Perry Economic Development, for the second time to build a 30,000 sq ft. spec building within the Perry Industrial Park. This award was made in partnership with the Ripple Effect Program.
South Slope Communications Cooperative awarded The North Liberty Community Pantry with funds to purchase clothing for their Community Closet. The closet is the first of its kind in the community, providing a selection of free clothing to those in need of assistance. This award was made in partnership with Aureon's Charity Grant Program. |
