WesTel Systems, located in Remsen, Iowa, is looking for their next General Manager due to an upcoming retirement.
This key position will report to the Board of Directors, is responsible for providing general oversight and management of the business operations and will participate in establishing the overall corporate mission and strategy.
Approaching their 100th anniversary, this 5th generation family-owned telecommunications company offers broadband, landline, WiFi management and IPTV services to Western Iowa and Eastern Nebraska communities via a 100% fiber network.
The ideal candidate will possess a thorough understanding of the rural telecommunications industry including the competitive, regulatory and technical issues it faces. The ability to understand risk analysis, focus on growth and recognize diversification opportunities is vital. Strong business, communication and leadership skills, along with self-motivation and an entrepreneurial bend will be cornerstones in the successful candidate’s toolbox. Additionally, a four-year degree in business or a related discipline and 10 years of progressive experience is required.
WesTel has approximately 4,200 broadband connections and 19 employees. Remsen boasts an annual Octoberfest, and nearby community fairs and ice cream days…rural living at its best! An avid boater? Lake Okoboji, a 3,800 acre natural body of water, is 1.5 hours away. Golf? There are several courses in the area, including Remsen's own nine-hole golf course. Located one hour from Sioux City, and two hours from Sioux Falls and Omaha, you’ll enjoy a rural lifestyle but be close enough to a larger city for those weekend outings.
