Broadband Technician

Position Overview:
The goal of the Broadband Technician position is to assist with installation and repair of telephone and internet services for residential and business customers in Springville, Iowa and the surrounding area. The Broadband Technician will troubleshoot SCTA network issues and equipment to ensure timely isolation and resolution of problems to avoid service disruptions and to ensure customer satisfaction.

Core Responsibilities:

  • Maintain Central Office, Outside Plant, and Customer Premise equipment including traditional POT's services, Key Telephone systems, CAT5 and fiber wiring installation and termination.
  • Ability to locate underground facilities
  • Install service and equipment for new subscribers
  • Maintain and repair existing services and equipment by using test sets to locate line trouble. Determine necessary repairs which may include repairing or replacing wiring, cable, pedestals, pedestal stubs, station protectors, ground connections, running new wires and replacing jacks, lids and pedestals as needed
  • Drive company vehicle to specific location(s) as directed to perform locates.
  • Maintain company equipment per service requirements and safety guidelines.
  • Assist other crew members as needed.
  • Deliver outstanding customer service and contribute to a sales-oriented culture.

Skills and Qualifications:

  • High School Diploma or equivalent
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work various hours and different shifts.
  • Must be customer service oriented and driven to provide quality service.
  • Must possess mechanical aptitude, with the ability to use common tools.
  • Ability to understand and follow directions as given.
  • Ability to work with minimal supervision.
  • Must have core values: respect for others, be responsible and trustworthy.
  • Ability to follow safety procedures at all times.
  • Self-starter, with the ability to prioritize workload

Work Environment:
Must be able to work indoors as well as outdoors for an 8-hour period and work in extreme weather conditions including wind, rain, hail, sleet, snow etc. Must be able to work outdoors with varying temperatures during the Summer and Winter months including excessive heat and/or cold temperatures. Must be willing to interface with Customers to complete service requests, installs, and repairs at both residential and business locations.

Travel:
Traveling may be required during working hours as well as during on-call hours to assist with installs/repairs.
